IMPORTEX Czech, a. s. was founded on April 24 2003 as a successor of IMPORTEX Plzen, s. r. o. that was active in the Czech market since 1992.
The company imports food products from abroad and distributes them in the Czech Republic. The imported goods include confectionery, dairy products and drinks. Confectionery is imported from all over the world, dairy products predominantly from the Netherlands. Chocolate and chocolate figures from Germany and Switzerland rank among the finest in the Czech market.
In 1997 the company has moved its offices to the new building close to industrial zone Borska pole and started to focus more on supermarket chains and independent market.
Apart from increase in import volumes and imported assortment the company has expanded its own distribution network to cover the whole distribution chain from import to sale to the end customer.
In 2002 IMPORTEX increased its staff in regions to cover the whole area of the Czech Republic and to start cooperation with new supermarket and hypermarket chains in the Czech Republic as well as in Slovakia. The company also prepares to introduce its own brand of seasonal goods to be introduced this year.
In 2002 IMPORTEX SLOVAKIA, s. r. o. was founded and its sales soar every following year.
In 2003 IMPORTEX Czech, a. s.was founded. The main reason to found "akciova spolecnost" (roughly an equivalent of public limited company in the UK) was Czech entry into the European Union in May 2005. The company wanted to be a more stable and reliable partner for Czech banks and corporations as well as for partners and producers from abroad.
In the following years IMPORTEX Czech, a. s. strengthened its position in Czech and Slovak markets.
The IMPORTEX increases its cooperation with multinational supermarket chains in the Czech and Slovak Republic.
Although the company clearly sees the potential and power of hypermarket and supermarket chains it still believes in focusing on traditional Czech small markets. The distribution to the small markets is managed by four of our own distribution centres (Prague, Plzen, Ostrava and Ceske Budejovice) and other partners and wholesales.
